Angry with God

As a Global Online Missionary, I get the opportunity to share the love of Christ with a lost and dying world. From time to time, I also get to pour into the lives of believers who are struggling or hurting. Recently, I received an e-mail from a young man who shared that he was angry with God because of the circumstances in his life. What follows is my response:

Thanks for sharing your heart concerning God’s involvement in your life. The good news is that you know Him well enough to realize that He is in charge and has the power to change your circumstances. Otherwise, you would have no reason to be mad, right? You are correct, God is sovereign. He controls all things. See Romans 8: 28-29 to better understand that He causes ALL things (note the text does not say all GOOD things), yes, all things to work for good for those who love Him.

I can appreciate if things in your life have gone sour how it is easy to be mad at God. Sometimes I get mad at Him for even the silliest little things. Later, I feel really bad about it because I know that this existence is not about me, it’s about Him, His glory, and His Kingdom. Everything that is “in play” in this world is part of His designed perfect plan.

We must realize that His way is the best way. One of His unlimited qualities is Omni- benevolence. In layman’s terms, that means that the way everything turns out is the best way. As a believer, (you are a believer, right?) we know that this existence is not even the size of the head of a pin in comparison to eternity. A billion years from now, what happened here during this time on earth will matter very little. The only thing that will matter is our relationship to God and our relationship to other believers.

The enemy wants you to “check-out” here so that you are not effective for the Kingdom. Don’t let him win!!!

The only person you are hurting is YOU because harboring enmity with God will make you feel awful. You’re not hurting God because, well, if you are a believer, He has forgiven you.

Drop to your knees right now and reconcile. I promise you’ll feel better right away.
